Tips To Create a Product Purchase Receipt

Check twice to make sure that you have not missed any product on the list of purchase receipts, and the number of items and prices are mentioned correctly. You should skip a line after the last item on the list before mentioning the total of prices. In this way, the receipt becomes more obvious to read.

Though the receipt is the record of purchase, mention all the discounts or special offers applied to the purchased products at the time of purchase. For instance, if the customer comes with a 30% discount coupon, or you have a special discount offer under specified circumstances, you need to take off 30% of the price or apply a decreased price from the sub-total after you apply taxes. Most of the stores and businesses choose to apply the discount offers before they apply taxes. But it is done under the business policies defined from the company you are making receipt of.

If you are making a purchase receipt of a heavy or expensive item/product, you need to calculate tax on the purchase order before you finish it. Taxes vary according to state and city. So you must be aware of the tax rate to be applied to purchase order.

Write what mode of payment customer has used to pay for purchase order, i.e. cash, check, credit card, gift card. Mostly customers pay with cash; so write the cash amount paid and then the amount change received. In case of check, write the check number on the purchase receipt.

Include signatures to the receipt to make it authentic. Receipt means nothing without having signature.
